Common terms for cooling towers

drift

Water is being carried off with exhaust gas cooling tower droplets. Drifting droplets have the same concentration of impurities as entering the tower water. Drift speeds are usually reduced by baffles with similar equipment, so-called drift exclusion, which must leave the filling and tower spray areas after traveling through the air.

Blowout

-Blowing wind cooling tower, water droplets, generally open at the air inlet. Water may also be lost in the case of wind, by splashing or spraying. Devices such as air curtains, louvers, splash deflections and water flow adjustment devices limit these losses.

Smoke plume

The saturated stream leaves the exhaust cooling tower. The plume is the visible water vapor, which contains the condensing of cool air in contact with it, as if the fog was breathing on a cold day.

Saturated air

In some cases, cooling towers can create a spray or freeze hazard and the surrounding area. Please note that the evaporative cooling process of water is "pure" water, in contrast to air inlets where the proportion of drifting droplets or water is very small.

noise

-Sound energy is emitted from the cooling tower and heard (recorded) at a given distance and direction. The effect of sound is on the air that the water quality is degraded by the movement of the fans, the movement in the fan blade structure, the motor, the gearbox and the transmission belt.

harm

Cooling towers can grow bacteria for a long time. The typical bacteria is "Legionella", which can cause infectious diseases, which will be affected within 800 meters around each cooling tower. Urban cooling towers are a major source of urban pollution. Legionella spreads through the air. The water tank of the air conditioning system is an ideal breeding place for Legionella, which can be piped throughout the building. Therefore, people who have been in the air-conditioning room for a long time should be especially careful.
